MATHEMATICS WITHOUT BORDERS
2021 – 2022

Dear friends of Mathematics without Borders,

 

During the last 8 years, since 2013, Bulgaria has been the host of Mathematics without Borders International Tournament for students aged 7 to 18.
During those 8 years, the tournament has become one of the biggest contests in Bulgaria, as well as worldwide, in terms of participant numbers and number of participating countries from 5 continents.
 
The past year was difficult for all of us, but thanks to your dedication we managed to successfully run the eighth edition of MWB.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to you for the efforts you put towards making this happen.
We hope you are in good health and ready for new challenges.
We kindly invite you to join the ninth edition of the tournament during the 2021/2022 academic year.
 

The tournament is for students aged 7 to 18 years, divided into nine age groups.

Group 1 – students born in 2014
Group 2 – students born in 2013
Group 3 – students born in 2012   
Group 4 – students born in 2011
Group 5 – students born in 2010
Group 6 – students born in 2009
Group 7 – students born in 2008
Group 8 – students born in 2007       
      Group 9 – students born in 2006 or earlier (15-18-year-old students)

Winter round

Jan 24 – Feb 6, 2022

Spring round

2231 March 2022

Final  – Nessebar, Bulgaria

1 – 5 July 2022

 

 

Due to the epidemiological situation caused by Covid 19, the timetable may be changed. There is a possibility that the remote rounds may need to be ran online, on an online platform chosen by the participating countries depending on their resources and the situation in each country.

MATHEMATICS WITHOUT BORDERS

FINAL 2021 – AUGUST 6th – 8th, 2021

  • Due to Covid-19, the Final will be held remotely
  • This year we will only hold an individual competition
  • Who can participate: all students who have participated in at least one preliminary remote round and have won at least one medal
  • We will only post certificates and medals this year (due to restrictions in international postal services). The Champions and Math Stars will be awarded with certificate of title only.
 
Important dates:
  • By July 6th – country partners send the completed application form
  • July 20th – we will post a detailed competition timeline on our website
  • August 6th – competition day for Bulgarian students (Nessebar, Bulgaria)
  • August 6th or 7th – each country partner organizes the Final locally (in one location per country). If the competition is held on August 7th, it must be finished by 12pm EEST (Eastern European Summer Time).
  • August 7th – the results must be sent to us by 5pm EEST, together with photos and a short video (1 minute at most)
  • August 8th – the results will be announced on our website (the precise time will be announced on July 20th)
